Lumban is a third class municipality in the province of Laguna. This town is the home of the majestic Caliraya Lake, which is the first man made lake in the Philippines. According to the 2013 census by the National Statistics Office, it has a population of 30,652.
Lumban is composed of sixteen barangays, eight of them are in the poblacion.
Lumban got its name from "Lumbang Tree". The town of Pagsanjan and Santa Cruz were once part of this town.
"Embroidery Capital of the Philippines", this is what Lumban is known for. Where a jusi or piña cloth are usually embroidered solely by hand. There are two types of barong, Saya or a Filipiñana for women and Barong Tagalog for men.
Every 20th of January, Lumban is celebrating its town fiesta and the last Sunday of this month is the celebration of the Lupi.
